In the course of January to March 2015, IVAA had translated bahasa Indonesia documents to English. The documents are related to five art projects in the 1980s to 1990s. We worked with post-graduate students who studied in Yogyakarta, all are excellent speakers of bahasa Indonesia.
We are able to deliver this project with the kind donation from Natasha Sidharta and the SAM Funds for Art, while Asia Art Archive and Ontel Studio are our partner throughout the project. IVAA is currently in the phase of discussing with both parties to further serve the purpose of this project: observe the context of contemporary society in Suharto era through art projects, while at the same time develop methods to enhance practices of art research.
Documents are sourced from a never-ending collaboration on matters of archive with Dewan Kesenian Jakarta (Jakarta Arts Council), Hyphen, FX Harsono and Bonyong Munni Ardhie.
Credits to our beloved translators: Elly Kent, Katherine Bruhn, Colin Cahill, Angie Bexley, Megan Hewitt!
